About Karen

HI , I AM KAREN !

I am a mother of two wonderful children and have been navigating the world of neurodiversity since my daughter was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. Originally a health insurance expert by profession, my journey has since evolved into that of a Neurodiversity Writer, Advocate, Community Engagement Specialist and Neuro-inclusive Education Advocate—a path chosen for a higher purpose.

Through my own experiences, I overcame inner fears and internalized ableism to find my passion and mission. I am dedicated to increasing acceptance and understanding of diverse neurological profiles.

I hold a BA in Journalism and Radio/TV from the Lebanese University and a Special Education Diploma, which further strengthens my ability to advocate for neurodivergent children and their families. As the founder of the People of Determination Store, a unique concept store that shines a light on individuals of determination, I aim to empower and celebrate their talents and contributions. Additionally, I serve as an admin of support groups that assist neurodivergent individuals, their parents, and those who work with or support neurodiverse communities.

I facilitate workshops, talks, and events designed to raise awareness and foster a neuro-inclusive culture among families, organizations, schools, and the broader community. My goal is to help create environments where neurodivergent individuals are understood, valued, and celebrated.

My guiding philosophy remains: "Small acts, multiplied by many, can transform the world." Additionally, inspired by the work of Stephen Porges, I believe that “The state of safety is crucial for learning and connection.” In line with this, Ross Greene’s philosophy resonates with me deeply: “Children do well if they can.” With these principles at the heart of my advocacy.
